Festival of Lights Recap
MACC hosted the 21st Annual Festival of Lights on December 5th and it was a great community celebration for all. Despite the cold and covid safety measures, hundreds of people attended the many free events throughout the downtown and it was a wonderful way to welcome the holiday season. From Santa to sleigh rides and s’mores, caroling to creating, there was something for everyone. At River Arts participated in a luminary building project, snowflake making, and tried out the community clay studio. In the Civic Center, kids got to tell Santa what they wanted for Christmas. Down at the Oxbow Park, folks could ride in a sleigh ride. Free movies were enjoyed in the evening at the Bijou theater.
Thank you all for attending, participating, and hosting the events.
MACC has some great plans for 2022, new murals and artistic benches, more lighting, and other investments in our community. Public art shows a commitment to our citizens and our future as an economic driver. It creates community engagement, increases the potential for people to understand themselves and each other, and changes how they see the world.
