Request for Proposal for Artistic Bench
MACC is currently proposing to engage the services of a professional artist to create a bench that is artsy, welcoming and represents downtown Morrisville in a creative way.
Objective: To create a bench that is vibrant and creative and includes some form of a musical theme. MACC believes that investing in our community and especially in public art shows a commitment to our citizens and our future. Art and culture supports community engagement, increases the potential for people to understand themselves and each other and changes how they see the world. Public art is an economic driver and this bench should reflect our strong, vibrant, and welcoming downtown.
Location: The bench will be installed on Portland Street across from the town offices in the pocket park.
Scope of the Project: The bench will represent downtown Morrisville in a creative way with a musical theme incorporated. (This bench is in honor of a local citizen that brought music to many venues and taught many classes here in Morrisville). The maximum stipend for this project is $7,000.00.
The artist must be a Vermont resident, preference will be given to Lamoille County residents and extra bonus points will be given to Morristown residents.
The artist will be responsible for creating a bench that will withstand the weather using exterior grade materials.
-No direct label advertising or logos (product or company) are allowed.
-No religious, political, or social disrespect is permitted. This is a public display and therefore the finished product must be appropriate for all audiences.
MACC will install the bench
Timeline:
February 15, 2022 -proposals due
Update February 15th, 2022 **We will continue accepting proposals until March 1st.
March 10, 2022 -contract signed-including a 25% deposit
April 25, 2022 -25% payment upon delivery of photos of the work in progress
June 15, 2022-bench completed, balance of payment paid
