Common Threads: A Community Dialogue

Free event • Refreshments provided • All are welcome
About the Event
Our community cares deeply about the environment our young people grow up in and the example we set for one another. Common Ground: A Community Dialogue invites community members – parents, youth, educators, caregivers, and neighbors who want to be part of positive change. Let’s come together in a welcoming, multigenerational space to explore how we can ensure Lamoille County is a place where everyone feels invited, safe, and welcome.
Rather than avoiding difficult topics, this gathering creates space for open conversation, respectful listening, and shared learning. Guided small-group discussions will use conversation cards developed by the Vermont Human Rights Commission and partner organizations, offering thoughtful prompts to explore identity, equity, and belonging in a supportive environment.
What to Expect
Guided small-group discussions centered on inclusion, racial awareness, and community connection
A CommUnity Art Activity where participants design and contribute a fabric square representing who they are and what community means to them—symbolizing kindness, unity, and the strength of our shared threads
Opportunities to share experiences and listen to others with curiosity and care.
Practical ways to support a more respectful and inclusive Lamoille County.
Why It Matters
Our children and neighbors are watching and learning from us. When adults model thoughtful dialogue and empathy, young people learn responsibility, understanding, and compassion. By coming together for honest conversation, we can address bias, racial awareness, strengthen relationships, and weave a stronger, more inclusive community for everyone.
