Botanical Barn Quilts and Mural

MACC collaborated with local artist Meg Reinhold and the AP art students at Peoples Academy High School to create the gorgeous pieces shown below.

Megs Mural is located at Guys Farm and Yard and the students work is scattered around Morristown.

These paintings depict edible and medicinal plants that are native to Vermont. Many of them can be

found growing along the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail, from the appearance of ephemeral trout lilies in early

spring to the fluffy milkweed seeds blowing in the autumn breeze.

My art is inspired by botany, herbalism, folklore, and traditional textiles. I am a quilter and a forager,

and painting is a place where these two passions overlap. I have taken the familiar image of a barn quilt

and created a similar composition using the leaves, seeds, and flowers of each plant. In studying these

plants, I pay attention to the way they look throughout the year and try to show phases of their life

cycles from bud to see.
