Description of your business/work? We are a well-groomed, 9-hole, public golf course with beautiful views in the heart of downtown Morrisville. We are also home to Copley Golf School for those looking to improve their skills or take up the game of golf.

How long have you been in business? We were incorporated in 1935. The land the golf course is on was given to the town of Morrisville by Alexander Copley to be used for reactional purposes. We started playing golf here in 1936.

How did you move to Morristown? I was born and raised in Morrisville. I left in 2000 and lived in Massachusetts for ten years. Raising a family brought me back to town.

What do you like best about Morristown? I like the community we live in. A lot of the people I grew up with are still here and it’s a great area to raise children. Everybody watches out for each other’s children, just like it’s always been.
What new business would you like to see move to town?
I would love to see the downtown businesses and the heart of Morrisville thrive. My wife and I are enjoying the restaurant scene in town.

What is on your wish list for the next five years of your business/career? I want to see the game of golf start growing again, and to get kids playing. I want to invite new members of the community to drive up the hill and feel welcome.

Personal background: I grew up playing golf at Copley. In many ways, I was raised on this course. It has been an amazing thing to watch my son, Aidan, out there playing too. My wife, Maureen, and I share two wonderful children Aidan, age 9, and Avery, age 7, and our dog Willow.

What was your first job? Working in the Stowe Country Club Bag Room.

What was your most fun job? My first job. It was fun because of the people who showed me the ropes of the business.

Favorite quote? “Keep your eyes on the stars and your feet on the ground.”

If you could have dinner with one person dead or alive, who would it be and why? Arnold Palmer. I’d love to listen to all of his stories.

What book did you read last? Into the Thin Air by John Krakauer

Wild card? In the golf industry? Hands down- the weather!
